Petition to Reinstate Indefinite Licence for Serious Offenders

Petition to Reinstate Indefinite Licence for Serious Offenders
The Issue
My siblings and i are survivors of horrific sexual abuse at the hands of our own father. He was sentenced under Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) laws— because he was dangerous. Because society recognized that people like him should never be allowed to just walk free without supervision.
But now, the law has changed. Under new rules, prisoners serving IPP sentences who were released at least five years ago and have not been recalled in the last two years will have their licences automatically terminated. This means our father— who stole our childhoods, who inflicted unthinkable trauma on us— could soon be free from all restrictions.
We are terrified. If this law isn't reversed, he will be legally allowed to find us. He will no longer be monitored. There will be nothing stopping him from walking back into our lives, no system in place to protect us. How is this fair? How can the rights of a man like him be put above the safety of the people he destroyed?
We don't want to live in fear for the rest of our lives. We don't want to constantly look over our shoulders, wondering if today will be the day he comes back for us. That's why we are begging the government to reinstate indefinite licence conditions for the most serious offenders. No one like him should ever be automatically freed from supervision.
No victim should have to fight this hard just to feel safe.
We believe:
Serious offenders should never have their licences automatically revoked.
The risk to victims must always take precedence over the perceived rights of offenders.
Survivors deserve a lifelong safety net that prevents their abuser from re-entering their lives unchecked
We call on the UK Government to reinstate indefinite licence conditions for those convicted of the most serious crimes, ensuring they remain subject to supervision and recall if necessary. Victims should not have to live in fear of their abusers being granted complete freedom without any ongoing risk assessment.
Please stand with survivors and help protect those who have already suffered enough. Reinstate the safeguards. Do not let this injustice stand.
