Petition to Reinstate Ethio Segenet Media on YouTube

To Whom It May Concern,

We respectfully call for the immediate reinstatement of the Ethio Segenet Media YouTube channel, which we believe was unjustly removed.

The channel had over 1 million subscribers and engaged more than 40,000 daily viewers through live-streaming. It was terminated without any prior strikes or warnings, raising concerns about coordinated reporting efforts aimed at silencing independent voices.

Ethio Segenet Media has played an important role in reporting on human rights issues, social challenges, and political developments, particularly affecting marginalized communities such as the Amhara. Its work has highlighted allegations of violence, displacement, and systemic Genocide.

The broader situation for journalists in Ethiopia is deeply concerning. International organizations such as CPJ, Human Rights Watch, and Reporters Without Borders, along with media outlets like BBC and AFP, have documented harassment, arrest, and killings of journalists and organized more than 15 thousands youths leagues to falsely report to YouTube. Supporting evidence can be provided upon request.

Since November 4, 2025, the channel’s removal has limited access to critical information and diverse perspectives.

* We kindly request Prevent abuse of mass-reporting systems
* please Protect independent journalists from unfair targeting
