We, the undersigned members of the Flathead County community and supporters of recreational sports, respectfully submit this petition in support of Mr. Ben Root and request the reinstatement of his privilege to participate in softball activities within the County’s Parks and Recreation programs.

Mr. Root has been a valued participant in the local softball community, demonstrating dedication, and a commitment to supporting and growing softball in Flathead County. His contributions to the league are well recognized among players, team captains, and spectators alike.

While we understand and respect the importance of upholding policies and ensuring accountability, we also believe in the principles of fairness, due process, and restorative action.

It is our understanding that the process that was established to ban Mr. Root did not adhere to the No Tolerance Rules that were in place at the time of his infraction. This inconsistency raises significant concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the decision to suspend his participation.

Based on Mr. Root’s record of involvement, the sincere support he has received from fellow participants, and the procedural issues surrounding the ban, we feel strongly that reinstating his softball privileges would be in the best interest of the league and the broader community.

We urge the Flathead County Parks and Recreation Board to consider this request thoughtfully and compassionately, to review the circumstances of the decision in question, and to take into account Mr. Root’s constructive role he plays in our local league.
