We believe the current structure of the LST master’s second year — requiring both a 9-month thesis and a 3-month industrial internship — is impractical. In reality, most companies expect interns to commit for at least 6 months, which often forces students to extend their studies, resulting in additional tuition fees and delays in graduation. While longer internships and thesis projects offer academic and professional value, the lack of flexibility creates financial and logistical strain. We urge the Board of Studies to raise this issue in broader forums to gather support from students, faculty, and staff, with the goal of exploring alternative solutions that maintain quality while reducing the burden on students.
