Petition to Reconsider Municipal Golf Membership Fee Hikes in Fort Worth

The Issue

As a dedicated member of Fort Worth's municipal golf community since 2019, I am compelled to express my deep concern over the recent and substantial price increases for golf memberships that include Rockwood, Pecan Valley, and Meadowbrook. These changes threaten to disrupt the bonds of friendship, the valued relationships with the exceptional staff, and our collective passion for golf.

The fee hikes are alarming:

  • Walking Membership has escalated from $950 to $1900, with the added restriction of no weekend play, which is particularly inconvenient for those with work commitments.
  • Platinum Membership has doubled from $2200 to $4400, making what was once accessible to many now a luxury for few.

These increases appear driven by a profit-focused approach rather than maintaining a community asset that has significantly contributed to Fort Worth's cultural and economic vitality. Such a dramatic rise in costs could lead to a decrease in membership renewals, ultimately counteracting the city's revenue goals.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the City of Fort Worth:

  • Reevaluate these fee adjustments to ensure they remain within reach for the community that has long supported these public facilities.
  • Consider the impact on working members by potentially reinstating weekend access for walking memberships.
  • Value the contributions of its members, who are not just users but active participants in the city's social, recreational, and health fabric.

Let's work together to keep our municipal golf courses as inclusive, community-focused spaces rather than exclusive luxury venues. Please sign this petition to urge the City of Fort Worth to make a more equitable decision that reflects the needs, values, and health of its golfing community.
