Petition to Protect the Farmland and Ecosystem of Kharcha Village, Dewas Road, Ujjain

Petition to Protect the Farmland and Ecosystem of Kharcha Village, Dewas Road, Ujjain
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the government and concerned authorities to reconsider the proposed acquisition of farmland in Kharcha Village, opposite MIT Campus on Dewas Road, Ujjain, for airport development and to explore alternatives that would avoid irreversible environmental and agricultural loss.
This land is not empty ground waiting for construction. It is a living ecosystem built and maintained over years of continuous care.
Avaanti farms contains:
- More than 5,000 trees of multiple varieties.
- A large natural water body
- Horses
- Cows
- Ducks
- Rabbits.
Agricultural land that supports biodiversity, shade, soil health, and rural livelihood.
The trees on this land are not replaceable in the short term. They help reduce heat, support birds and wildlife, improve air quality, and preserve ecological balance in an increasingly warming environment.
The water body inside the farm plays an important role in:
- Groundwater support
- Natural cooling
- Animal habitat
- Rainwater retention
- Local environmental stability.
Destroying such a space for construction would not only remove farmland but permanently damage a mature ecosystem that took years to grow.
We understand the need for development and infrastructure. However, true development should balance economic growth with environmental responsibility and humane decision-making.
We respectfully request:
- A transparent environmental impact assessment of the proposed project.
- A re-evaluation of alternative locations that may cause less ecological destruction.
- Protection of fertile agricultural land and mature tree cover wherever possible
- Public consultation with affected landholders and local communities
- Preservation of the farm’s water body and surrounding ecosystem
At a time when cities are facing rising temperatures, groundwater stress, and disappearing green cover, protecting large living landscapes is more important than ever.
This farm represents years of environmental stewardship, animal care, and rural life. Once destroyed, such ecosystems cannot simply be recreated elsewhere.
We request the authorities to pursue development in a way that respects both people and nature.
Please support this petition to help protect the trees, water, animals, and ecological balance of Kharcha Village, opposite MIT Campus, Dewas Road, Ujjain.
