Dear PTC City Council Members,

We, the undersigned residents of Peachtree City, respectfully petition the City to reconsider the proposed removal of the pickleball courts at Braelinn Recreational Center.

It has come to our attention that this action is based on a noise complaint brought forward by a single resident. While we respect all community voices, we believe the overwhelming benefits of these courts to hundreds of residents far outweigh the concerns of one individual.

The Braelinn courts are ideally located alongside baseball fields, basketball courts, and a playground, creating a vibrant, safe, and family-friendly hub. Their proximity to Oak Grove Elementary School further strengthens this sense of community, offering children, parents, and grandparents a safe place to gather and connect.

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, enjoyed by families, youth, and older adults alike. Removing these courts would deprive the Braelinn area of a valuable recreational resource.

Instead of removal, we ask the City to adopt proven alternatives that address noise concerns while preserving community access:

Court-Side Additions to Reduce Noise

Acoustic Fencing & Sound Barriers

1. Install specialized noise-reducing panels or fencing (constructed of acoustic foam, composite, or dense wood).
2. Build barriers at a height of 10–16 feet to effectively block sound travel.
3. Utilize angled or staggered designs to diffuse sound more efficiently.

Acoustic Windscreens

1. Similar in appearance to standard tennis windscreens but made with sound-absorbing fabric.
2. Provide the dual benefit of reducing noise while also limiting wind interference, improving playability.

These solutions have been implemented successfully in other communities and provide a balanced approach to both resident peace and recreational enjoyment.

We urge Peachtree City to preserve the Braelinn pickleball courts and pursue these reasonable alternatives in the best interest of families, children, and the wider community.
