Petition to Place Dominique Micaela Payton on the Ballot for Texas House District 139

Petition to Place Dominique Micaela Payton on the Ballot for Texas House District 139
The Issue
Hello Acres Home, Inwood, Laurel Oaks, Silverglen & all of District 139!!!
My name is Dominique M. Payton! I’m running for Texas House District 139 because it’s time to fight for real change! And I need your support and signatures to get on that ballot!!
I was born and raised in East Texas! I’m originally from Waskom, Texas! A small town where I learned the meaning of resilience, faith, and community. I come from a place where people work hard, pray harder, and often struggle to be seen by a system that wasn’t built for them. But I also come from a place of love, purpose, and hope. Now, I’m bringing those values to Houston, where we must challenge and change the status quo.
I stand for:
- Criminal justice reform: Dismantle mass incarceration, focus on rehabilitation, prisoner trade skills, and successful reentry. Restore voting rights to felons who have served their time and pay taxes.
- Immigrant rights: Ensure legal immigrants who pay taxes have full voting rights including in presidential elections because they contribute to our economy and community.
- Affordable housing: Fight gentrification and support affordable housing programs so families can stay in their homes.
- Economic justice: Raise the minimum wage, create jobs, support small businesses, and transition welfare recipients into workforce or education within 2 to 4 years.
- Education equity: Invest in public schools, raise teacher pay, ensure teachers have the right credentials, oppose school vouchers, and close achievement gaps.
- Health & environment: Ban harmful food additives, improve nutrition in schools and prisons, implement universal healthcare, and ban toxic pesticides and pollutants.
- Public safety: Support balanced police reform alongside community-led safety initiatives to keep neighborhoods safe.
- Transportation & infrastructure: Improve public transit, roads, sidewalks, parks, and community spaces to enhance daily life.
- Youth & family services: Expand after-school programs, childcare assistance, and family support services.
- Tax fairness: Raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations, and eliminate property taxes to ease the burden on families and homeowners.
- Voting rights: Protect voting access and make it easier for all eligible residents to participate in democracy.
- Community engagement: Maintain open communication, hold regular town halls, monthly community outings and always put constituents first!
I’m committed to making Houston a beacon of justice, wellness, and opportunity. If you’re tired of being ignored, this is your moment. Sign the petition. Share it. Talk about it. Let’s put Dominique Micaela Payton “The People’s Fighter for Change” on the ballot for Texas House District 139. The time for silence is over. The movement starts here. Let’s take it.
Thank you, God bless you!!
