Petition to Oppose Commercial Businesses on the Old Dibble Road Corridor

The Issue

 

Now is the time to act. Keep the Old Dibble Road corridor beautiful and in tact. Keep it safe.  Keep it free from commercialization.

Five property owners on Lewis Lane and Old Dibble Road have asked Aiken County to change the zoning on their 5 properties from RD (residential only) to RH5-B (commercial businesses permitted) so that they may conduct commercial businesses at their homes. All commercial businesses are prohibited in the RD Zone.

These 5 properties have Deed Restrictions that run with the land, prohibit commercial business and enforce large lot sizes. A zoning change to RH5-B will permit the following agricultural commercial businesses:

·        ANIMAL PRODUCTION;          

·        KENNELS;      

·        LIVESTOCK;     

·        VENDORS;

·        SPECTATOR SPORTS;        

·        FARM SUPPLY STORE;     

·        FORRESTRY AND LOGGING;

·        SUPPORTIVE ACTIVITIES FOR ANIMAL PRODUCTION 

·        RENTAL STABLES FOR HOURLY TRAIL RIDES;    

·        LAWN AND GARDEN EQUIPMENT STORE;

·        VETERINARY CLINIC COMPLETELY ENCLOSED

·        VETERINARY CLINIC PARTIALLY ENCLOSED

The increase in traffic from clients and suppliers that 5 commercial businesses would generate is a safety concern to all who access Old Dibble Road.
