Petition to Nominate Ricky Merit for an MBE

The Issue

As a bulldog owner myself, I know just how special the bond is between humans and their dogs. That’s why I’m writing this — not just as a supporter, but as someone genuinely moved by the work of Ricky Merit, the amazing human behind Pablo and Diego, and now the founder of Pabs and Pals Rescue.

Ricky, known to many as BulldogPabs, has created so much more than just a social media presence. Through videos, stories, and hilarious (and often touching) moments with his dogs, he’s built a space filled with kindness, laughter, and community. When the world felt a bit heavy, Ricky gave us something wholesome to smile about. And that matters.

But what really sets him apart is what he’s doing beyond the screen.

Ricky recently launched Pabs and Pals Rescue — a beautiful, grassroots charity focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need. Based in North Yorkshire and working with Moorview Luxury Kennels, this charity isn’t just about helping dogs — it’s about giving second chances and building hope.

What I admire most is that Ricky hasn’t done this for fame or money. He’s done it because it’s the right thing to do. He keeps supporters involved, updates us regularly, and makes sure we feel part of something real. He’s the kind of person who checks in, remembers names, and puts the dogs first — always.

He’s also the author of The Adventures of Pablo and Diego: The Great Outdoors, a children’s book that encourages little ones to explore, imagine, and learn about the beautiful relationship between humans and animals. It’s sweet, meaningful, and exactly the kind of thing we need more of in this world.

Ricky’s not just a dog dad — he’s a role model, a community builder, and now, a rescuer.

So I’m asking — no, I’m urging — Parliament to recognise Ricky’s heart, his hard work, and the impact he’s made by putting him forward for an MBE. Because people like him make the UK a kinder, better place. And honestly? He deserves it.

If you’ve ever smiled at a Pablo and Diego video, believed in second chances, or just love your dog like family — please sign. Let’s get Ricky the recognition he’s truly earned.
