Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha and Diwali are the biggest holidays that Muslims and Hindus celebrate world wide. Hundreds of people take these days off of work/school to celebrate with their families. I believe that children from all different faiths deserve the right to celebrate their religious holidays with their loved ones without missing work at school and without any worries to catch up. It would be only possible if these religious days are announced as holidays in the school systems. Making Eids and Diwali school holidays will show that our school system recognizes the importance of these faiths. It will set an example for our kids to respect the diversity and cultural heritage of different communities.

We request the Connecticut State Department of Education to accept our appeal and show that we believe in - "One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
