We the undersigned strongly object to the idea of changing the Tilden nickname from Blue Devils to anything else!  The name Blue Devils is a vital part of Tilden’s past and we insist that it remains in Tilden’s present and future.  It is sacrilegious to eliminate this name.  The fallacy that it has a negative connotation is absurd.  Duke University, one of the most prestigious institutes of higher learning in the world has its teams named Blue Devils and has no intention of changing it.  Current Tilden administrators have no business messing with the history, tradition and culture of OUR school.  

If this idea is not dropped, this petition will be sent to the Chancellor, the District Superintendent, the head of the P.S.A.L. as well as the major daily newspapers.  The Brooklyn Eagle has already been apprised of this travesty and will run a column about it in next week’s edition.  We are TILDEN STRONG and are adamant in our demands.
