Petition to keep our teacher Dennis Lobo at NHL Stenden
The Issue
We, the students of International Business at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, hereby express our strong support for keeping Prof. Dennis Lobo as an English teacher and Business Transformers coach at our institution.
NHL Stenden does not need professors! WE don’t need professors! Why? Because in this day and age, just professors are not enough! That’s right! – What we need are MENTORS.
A professor teaches you a subject, but a mentor passes on their love for the subject, alongside the knowledge they have on the topic. Prof. Lobo’s lessons are about much more than English; they are life lessons. He is a mentor for us. In fact, he is one of the few actual mentors here at NHL Stenden.
Most of us are international students, people who left their families in Russia, Romania, China, Korea, South Africa, and other countries. We left behind mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters in an attempt to build a better life for ourselves and a better world for future generations. Prof. Lobo is kind like a mother, wise like a father, candid as a brother, and supportive as a sister to us, the hundreds of students who are fortunate to have him as a guiding light. DON’T TAKE HIM AWAY FROM US.
It is undeniable that our mentor goes above and beyond to support us in our academic and personal growth. He always finds time for students, even outside of lessons, and is ready to help with both educational and personal issues. He has helped people overcome suicidal thoughts, social exclusion, and constant depression and anxiety. He is one of the most encouraging and supportive teachers, which has created a strong bond between him and us, his students. He has always been, and continues to be, on the students’ side.
Prof. Lobo consistently provides high-quality lectures and study materials, offering powerful lessons with real-life and business-related examples, which help us remember the content better and learn faster.
Professor Dennis Lobo is more than a number in a registry—he is family for students who do not have one nearby. He is a good colleague and an amazing teacher. Letting go of him would constitute an immense loss for our school and implicitly for us.
We, therefore, ask you, the people in charge of our education, to consider our remarks and to do everything possible to keep this amazing scholar, teacher, and friend among us. We are confident that he deserves this position more than anyone else, and that the institution will only benefit from having him as an employee.
