The issue

The option to wear non-uniform in Year 13 has long been a feature of Hillcrest High School and was a key factor in many students’ decisions to attend. This policy supports student individuality, promotes our independence, and prepares us for the responsibilities and freedoms of adulthood.

Additionally, the financial burden of purchasing a uniform for just one final year of school places unnecessary strain on many families. With the rising cost of living, asking parents to invest in a uniform that will be worn for a limited time is impractical. Many students already own appropriate, professional clothing that meets the standards of maturity expected in Year 13.
