Petition updateTo Journalists: Debunk Rather than Dramatize "Doomsday" Stories - Vulnerable Get SuicidalPetition to Youtube to halt ads on Doomsday videos

Youtube recently announced that it would tighten ad rule enforcement, demonetizing numerous videos on ethical grounds - and that got me thinking - that perhaps they could be persuaded to remove ads from the doomsday videos. I find that many of those who talk to me about these Doomsday stories say that it' s the youtube videos that scare them most of all. And certainly the ad revenue must be a strong financial incentive for irresponsible hoaxers and others of diminished responsibility to share more and more dramatic videos of that type. The video which triggered this petition got its uploader (not author) an estimated $8,000 to $22,000 all just for doing an unauthorized copy of someone else's video and adding a scary title to it, and most of the more popular doomsday videos run youtube ads. So I think if we can get youtube to stop running ads on these videos, then we may see a huge reduction in the number of these videos posted by hoaxers. I think we have a strong case here also. I posted the petition to dazzathecameraman on facebook yesterday and my own timeline and it has already got 37 signatures. Do sign it if you agree and share it with your friends and anyone who you think would be interested in signing it. Thanks!
