Request to Co-Designate a Portion of NW 117th Street as “Peyton Street”
We, the undersigned members of the community, respectfully petition Miami-Dade County to honor the life and legacy of Peyton Williams by co-designating a portion of NW 117th Street near NW 7th Avenue in Miami, Florida, as “Peyton Street.”
Peyton Williams was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, friend, and cherished member of her community. She was deeply loved by those who knew her and brought joy to the lives of the people around her.
Peyton had a vibrant spirit and a passion for dance and cheer. These were more than activities she participated in they were expressions of her energy, personality, confidence, and joy. She was a young girl with a life full of promise, relationships, dreams, and experiences still ahead of her.
Tragically, Peyton’s life was taken far too soon in a hit-and-run crash at or near NW 117th Street and NW 7th Avenue in Miami.
No family should have to experience the loss of a loved one in such a devastating way. While a street designation cannot undo the tragedy or replace Peyton, it can ensure that her name and legacy remain a visible and lasting part of the community.
Our Request
We respectfully ask Miami-Dade County and the appropriate County Commissioner to support and sponsor the necessary legislation to co-designate a portion of NW 117th Street as “Peyton Street.”
This designation would serve as a permanent tribute to Peyton and provide her family, friends, and community with a meaningful place to remember her.
We hope that this roadway can become more than the location where a tragedy occurred. We hope it can become a place where Peyton’s name represents remembrance, love, community, and a life that mattered.
