Petition to Halt Divisive Community Benefit Agreements and Restore Fairness in London ON
The Issue
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CONCERNED CITIZENS OF LONDON, HEREBY PETITION the City of London, Ontario to immediately revoke ALL agreements and cease funding of ALL organizations practicing divisive grievance politics, including:
The proliferation of Community Benefit Agreements (CBAs) and Community Employment Benefits (CEBs) in current large infrastructure projects, imposed upon us by the federal government.
The intent is that the UN Sustainable Development Goals, agreed to by our federal government in 2015 will be achieved by benefiting the individuals and organizations identified as ‘equity deserving’ at the expense of all others.
These benefit agreements are legally binding and benefit only specific identity groups while marginalizing others, including young, taxpaying Millennials, who are unable to afford their first homes.
These agreements, in conjunction with Public Private Partnerships (P3s), grant disproportionate power and control to large international corporations, asset managers, unions, activists, and their global affiliates, infringing upon the rights and freedoms of ordinary Canadian citizens. Moreover, it is often the savings and pension assets of Canadian citizens that are utilized to finance these projects, further exacerbating the injustice.
WE DEMAND AN END TO THIS UNJUST ARRANGEMENT AND THE IMMEDIATE CESSATION OF ALL TAXPAYER FUNDING TO ORGANIZATIONS ENGAGED IN GRIEVANCE POLITICS.
As residents and taxpayers of London, we insist on a government that prioritizes the well-being and prosperity of ALL its citizens, without discrimination or favouritism. We urge the City of London to act swiftly and decisively in response to this petition, thereby restoring trust, accountability, and fairness in our governance.
