Petition to Extend Support for Windows 10.

Petition to Extend Support for Windows 10.
The Issue
We, the undersigned, respectfully petition Microsoft to continue support for Windows 10 past its planned end-of-life date or to keep it in parallel with Windows 11. The reasons for sustaining support are not just practical but also critical:
Millions still rely on it.
Windows 10 continues to be the most widespread operating system in the world. Many individuals, schools, organizations, and government agencies use it daily(as well as me). Mandated updates to Windows 11 would threaten the continuity of critical workflows and services.
Hardware Compatibility Issues
Many functional personal computers do not meet the hardware specifications for Windows 11, specifically among non-profits and disadvantaged populations. The end of the lifecycle of Windows 10 actually forces people into upgrading their hardware without reason, thus maintaining digital inequality.
Environmental Impact
Withdrawal of support for Windows 10 means the premature obsoletion of millions of devices and thus contributing towards the problem of electronic waste. Having continuous support allows the maximum utilization of current hardware and is a more sustainable and eco-friendly approach.
Economic Load
Upgrading to Windows 11 often requires the purchase of new hardware or funding for retraining staff and updating software systems. Many individuals and small businesses do not have the necessary finances to allow for this process, especially at times of economic recession.
It’s Still a Capable OS
Windows 10 continues to prove itself in terms of speed, reliability, and security in most use scenarios. It has a well-established ecosystem and broad support, and it caters to the needs of typical users consistently. There is no immediate technical reason for its early cancellation. We are not against progress, but it is critical that such progress is rendered affordable, fair, and sustainable. There is a responsibility on how Microsoft should react to its wide audience and bridge the digital divide. We are in favor of ongoing support for Windows 10, as well as providing options and sufficient time for its users.
