Petition to Expand the Victorville California Courthouse to Meet Growing Community Needs

Petition to Expand the Victorville California Courthouse to Meet Growing Community Needs
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Victorville and the surrounding High Desert communities, respectfully petition for the expansion of the Victorville Courthouse to accommodate the increasing demand for judicial services. As our region has experienced rapid population growth, the current courthouses at 14455 Civic Dr., Victorville, CA, and 235 E. Mountain View, Barstow, CA, are struggling to meet the needs of our residents, attorneys, and court staff. Many individuals face long waiting times, crowded courtrooms, scheduling delays, and limited resources that hinder timely access to justice.
The limitations of the current facility have negatively impacted:
Case Backlogs – Many cases, including civil, family, and criminal matters are delayed due to a lack of available staff and courtrooms.
Public Access to Justice – Due to space constraint, residents must often travel to other courthouses in San Bernardino County.
Safety & Efficiency – Overcrowding in waiting areas creates security concerns and inefficiencies in case processing.
Parking—The lack of adequate parking creates a daily traffic hazard.
Juvenile Cases—There is not enough time to thoroughly address juvenile cases.
Distant Calendars—Moving court calendars to distant courthouses burdens our community, raises safety issues during travel, and confuses families navigating the system.
We urge the State of California and the Judicial Branch of California Courts to take immediate action by allocating funding and resources to expand the Victorville Courthouse or construct a larger facility that can better serve the growing population. A modernized and expanded courthouse would provide more courtrooms, improve security, reduce delays, and ensure equitable access to justice for all residents of the High Desert.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your leadership in addressing this critical need.
