Petition to Establish a Community Center at 7 Brush Hill Road, Milton, MA

The Issue

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages one of the country's most extensive Historic Curatorship programs. DCR is inviting expressions of interest in reusing 7 Brush Hill Road.

The building is situated at 7 Brush Hill Road on Blue Hill Avenue, just south of Mattapan Square and the bustling commercial intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and River Street. The property is located alongside the Neponset River, only a few steps from the Bike Path and Mattapan Station. See more details here - https://www.mass.gov/doc/7-brush-hill-road-rfei/download

We would like to garner support for asking the DCR and other involved organizations to reuse the property and space at 7 Brush Hill Road as a community center and provide the necessary support and funding to make this vision a reality.

To: State Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)

We, the undersigned residents of Milton, are united in our belief that a community center at 7 Brush Hill Road Neponset Esplanade Park would significantly improve the quality of life in our part of town. We respectfully request that the State Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Historic Curatorship Program support the creation of a community center that will serve as a vital hub for all residents. This center will foster a stronger, healthier, and more connected community.

Why We Need a Community Center:

1. Community Building and Socialization: A community center will provide a space where residents of all ages can come together, socialize, and strengthen community bonds.

2. Health and Fitness Opportunities: The center will offer facilities and programs that promote physical health, including fitness classes, sports leagues, and wellness activities.

3. Youth Engagement: The community center will help keep our youth engaged in positive and productive ways by providing programs and activities for children and teens.

4. Cultural and Educational Programs: We envision a center that hosts a variety of cultural and educational programs that cater to diverse interests and lifelong learning.

5. Support Services: The community center will offer essential services such as counseling, support groups, and educational workshops that address the needs of our community.

6. Economic Development: By attracting people to local events and programs, the community center will stimulate our local economy and enhance the overall attractiveness of our town.

Call to Action:

We ask that the State Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the Historic Curatorship Program, and other involved organizations recognize the importance of reusing the property and space at 7 Brush Hill Road Neponset Esplanade Park in Milton as a community center and provide the necessary support and funding to make this vision a reality. Let us create a place that fosters growth, wellness, and unity within Milton, MA.

By signing this petition, we support this essential project and urge our local leaders to act swiftly to benefit our community.

Sincerely,

- Bouba
