The purpose of this petition is to motivate for the erection of a fence on the boundary of Boundary Road, and corners of West Street and Ranee Road, Cravenby. This is to enable the blocking off of unwanted traffic and throughfare to the opposite Parow area. The necessity of addressing the construction of a boundary fence is of utmost importance and urgency so that we can immediately try to mitigate the many hazards that has been imposed on us by the openness of the existing field at this position.

The Cravenby community has been faced with many challenges of crime, which has escalated substantially in the past few years. Three incidences of murder have been reported in 2023 (reports available at Ravensmead Police station) in which the victims entered Cravenby through this open field (in broad daylight) and were shot to death.  The accused themselves were able to escape over this very field. Needless to say there were countless robberies and incidences of mugging reported along these roads in the area and of persons going to and coming from work. Criminals escape over the field and gets away because cars are unable to move over the field due to cement barriers.  Cravenby is a soft target for criminals of surrounding areas because it is too open and exposed for any criminal to access.

The closure of the boundary to Parow Industrial and Franzie Van Zijl would put an immediate stop to unnecessary loitering and walk through (and escape)  of persons that are looking for opportunities of criminality in Cravenby.
