Birthday parties are supposed to be fun for everyone — kids and adults alike. Yet too often, parents are hosting “dry” children’s birthday parties, leaving friends, neighbors, and family members without the option to responsibly enjoy a drink while celebrating.

We believe that:

Community gatherings should be inclusive. Adults should not feel like they’re at a business meeting when attending a birthday celebration.
Responsible enjoyment sets a healthy example. Showing moderation, balance, and hospitality teaches kids far more than avoidance.
Dallas is a city that knows how to celebrate. Whether it’s sports, family events, or neighborhood block parties, our culture is about warmth and togetherness. A dry birthday feels out of step with that spirit.

This petition is not about excess. It’s about choice. We’re calling on parents across around the world to bring back hospitality, to allow for responsible adult beverages at children’s birthday parties, and to make these events welcoming for everyone in attendance.

We, the undersigned, call on parents to stop hosting dry children’s birthday parties and instead embrace celebrations that honor both kids and the community.
