The Issue

Dear Neighbors,

I’m reaching out with a critical matter that will impact all of us here on Arrowhead Lane. Our neighbor, Chase Isaac Smith, currently owns Chase Pays Cash which he operates out of 7510 Arrowhead Lane. The property is zoned A-1Agriculture Zoning , but is only being occupied for business purposes which is rapidly outgrowing its boundaries of zoning regulations.

Furthermore, Chase has recently acquired a business license for a new company: Trade Flow (https://tradeflowservices.com/). He is planning to build a standalone commercial building for his businesses at the dead end of our residential street. This development will further bring unwanted traffic, noise, and disruption to our quiet neighborhood, and we need to act quickly to prevent it.

This street is a two-lane, one-way-in, one-way-out road, with high foot traffic and many families who rely on it for safe, quiet living. A commercial building here would jeopardize that, bringing congestion and putting pedestrians, including our children, at risk. It would also likely lead to lower property values and disrupt the peaceful environment we’ve all worked so hard to maintain.

Please, let’s come together as a community to protect our neighborhood. Attached is a petition to formally request that the city deny Chase Smith’s application to build this commercial building. By signing it, you’re helping us make our voices heard in opposition to this project. We need to act fast to ensure that our concerns are acknowledged before it’s too late.

Please take a moment to read the attached petition and provide your signature. Together, we can preserve the character and safety of our residential street.

Thank you for standing with us,

Petition to Deny the Construction of a Commercial Building on Our Residential Street

To: City of Trussville Planning Board / Zoning Commission

Subject: Opposition to the Commercial Development by Chase Smith at the Dead End of Arrowhead Lane, Trussville AL 35173

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Arrowhead Lane, are submitting this petition to formally request that the city deny and/or halt and void any continuance of Chase Smith's proposal to build a standalone commercial property, intended for his companies Chase Pays Cash and Trade Flow, on our residential street.

We believe that allowing a commercial building on this residential road would cause significant harm to our neighborhood for the following reasons:

1. Increased Traffic and Congestion: Our street is a two-lane, one-way-in, one-way-out road with limited capacity. This commercial building would attract additional vehicle traffic, including customers, employees, and delivery trucks, causing unnecessary congestion and creating a constant flow of traffic that our street infrastructure cannot support. This would severely disrupt the daily lives of residents, who rely on this road for safe and manageable commuting.

2. Safety Risks for Pedestrians: Our neighborhood has a high level of foot traffic, including children walking to and from school, seniors, and families with strollers. The increased traffic due to a commercial establishment at the dead end of our street would endanger pedestrians, making it riskier for our families to walk safely in their own neighborhood.

3. Noise and Disturbance: Commercial buildings inevitably bring with them increased noise from daily operations, vehicle traffic, and, potentially, 24/7 lighting. This disruption to the peace and quiet we expect in our residential area would diminish the quality of life for all residents and negatively affect the neighborhood atmosphere we have worked hard to maintain.

4. Potential for Decreased Property Values: The presence of a commercial building in a residential area could lead to decreased property values, as potential buyers may be deterred by the proximity of commercial activity. Our neighborhood has been and should remain a purely residential community, where homeowners can feel assured their property values will be protected.

5. Environmental Concerns: Building a commercial structure could potentially disturb the natural landscape at the end of our street, which could involve the removal of trees, increased pollution, and a reduction of green space that serves as a natural buffer and enhances the beauty of our neighborhood.

6. Compromised Community Cohesion: Allowing a commercial building would set a precedent that could pave the way for further commercial development in our neighborhood, compromising the residential nature of our community. We have chosen this area to live in peace among families and fellow residents, not commercial entities.

Our community is united in its opposition to this development and respectfully urges the City or County Planning Board to consider the lasting negative impact this commercial building would have on our neighborhood. We believe it is crucial to protect the residential character, safety, and property values of our area. We are committed to preserving the integrity of our neighborhood and ensuring it remains a safe, peaceful place for our families and future generations.

We, the undersigned, request the City/County to deny this application and to support our neighborhood’s right to remain a residential area free from commercial development.
