Petition to Construct Aquatic Center in Socal-Cerritos Area

The Issue

For over 50 years, the school district governing Gahr High School and surrounding areas has struggled to support the aquatics programs of four high schools with only one regulation pool available that belongs to the city. Parents and student-athletes of Cerritos High and Gahr High School have approached the Board requesting a pool be built that could better accomodate all programs within the district but, unfortunately, the project is at a standstill with financial resources being pulled in other directions and other construction projects underway. Gahr High School aquatic athletes (AKA, Wave Warriors) are reaching out to you, the general public and asking for your assistance with requesting the district to proceed the project and create a state-of-the-art aquatic center possible sooner, rather than later.

Building an aquatic center isn't just about constructing a facility; it's about creating an oasis of wellness and joy that enriches the lives of countless individuals. Water sports offer unparalleled opportunities for physical fitness, team building, and personal growth. From swimming and diving to water polo, kayaking, and underwater training, the possibilities are as vast as the ocean itself. By providing support to the construction of an aquatic center, you're not only promoting a platform for athletes to excel but also fostering a culture of health and vitality within the community.

Moreover, the benefits of an aquatic center extend beyond recreation. Water therapy has emerged as a powerful tool for rehabilitation, offering relief for individuals with physical ailments or recovering from injuries. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints and muscles, facilitating movement and promoting healing. By incorporating water therapy programs into the aquatic center schedule, we're not just enhancing the quality of life for individuals; we're making a profound impact on their well-being.

And let's not forget the financial aspect—a well-designed aquatic center can generate significant revenue, with profit margins ranging from 15-20%. With strategic planning and marketing efforts, we can tap into various revenue streams, including membership fees, event hosting, and sponsorship opportunities that would sustain the center's future and support the community's well-being for generations to come. Supporting our cause of building an aquatic center isn't just a sound decision—it's a testament to your commitment to community enrichment and success.
