We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the New York City Council approve the honorary co-naming of Dean Street, at the corner of Court Street in Brooklyn in memory of Gregory G. DeJohn.

For over 40 years, Gregory DeJohn was more than the owner of Cobble Hill Chapels—he was a familiar and trusted presence in our neighborhood. Through some of life’s most difficult moments, he cared for generations of families with compassion, kindness, dignity, and respect. Whether someone had lived in Cobble Hill their entire life or had recently become part of the community, Gregory treated every family as if they were his own.

Cobble Hill Chapels has long been a cornerstone of our neighborhood, and Gregory’s commitment extended far beyond the walls of the funeral home. He built lasting relationships with the families he served and became someone the community could always rely on during times of loss. His kindness, integrity, and genuine care left a lasting impression on countless people throughout Cobble Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Today, his legacy continues through Cobble Hill Chapels and the values he instilled in everyone who walks through its doors.

To move this request forward, we are seeking at least 150 signatures from local residents, business owners, and members of the surrounding community who believe Gregory’s contributions deserve to be recognized with the honorary co-naming of Dean Street.
