Petition to Change Traffic Signal on Adams Lane and Route 130 in North Brunswick, NJ

Petition to Change Traffic Signal on Adams Lane and Route 130 in North Brunswick, NJ
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of North Brunswick, NJ, are petitioning for an urgent change to the traffic signal at the intersection of Adams Lane and Route 130. The current traffic signal configuration has resulted in numerous accidents, particularly during left turns at the intersection.
The unsafe conditions at this intersection are primarily due to the lack of visibility when making left turns. Cars turning left onto Route 130 South are unable to see oncoming traffic traveling at high speeds (up to 40 mph) in the opposite direction, as their view is obstructed by vehicles turning on the other side and cars coming straight across Route 130 that are in the middle of a 3 lane intersection. This dangerous situation has led to a significant number of collisions, posing a constant threat to the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists in the area.
We strongly believe that implementing a delayed green signal or alternating lights at this intersection is imperative to address these safety concerns. A change in this signal would allow for a safer and more controlled flow of traffic, reducing the risk of accidents and potentially saving lives.
We urge the relevant authorities to prioritize the safety of our community and take immediate action to change the traffic signal on Adams Lane and Route 130 to include a delayed green signal for left turns or alternating traffic signal. Together, we can work towards creating a safer and more secure transportation system for all residents and commuters. Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
