Subject: Petition to Change the School Calendar

Dear respected Board of Directors, Principal Bkhaitan and BHA Administration,

As-salaam alaykum,

We, the undersigned, are petitioning for a change in next year’s school calendar (2025-2026). We believe the modifications will better serve the needs and well-being of our students, families, and staff.

Proposed Changes:

Change Eid and Spring Break from March 16-27 to March 11-25.

Please note, we are not asking for extra days off, but rather just shifting the days around. 

Reasons for Change:

One of the beautiful blessings about sending our children to an Islamic School is our shared communal goals. 

1. Alignment with the last 10 nights of Ramadan: Aligning the school break with the last 10 nights will encourage greater participation for students and staff to perform extra ‘ibadah. 

2. Academic Performance: Sleep deprivation is a major obstacle in Ramadan. Research shows that a lack of sleep negatively affects academics. Time off while fasting can help alleviate school stress and burnout among students and staff, leading to a healthier school environment.

We understand that changes to the school calendar can involve various considerations; however, we believe these adjustments will ultimately benefit our educational community.

We kindly request that the school board take our petition into consideration and explore the possibility of these changes. We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.
