Petition to Bring Tatiana Home

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We urgently need your help to bring Tatiana home. She has been wrongfully accused of a crime she did not commit – the tragic death of a 2-year-old ex stepson, which was ruled an accident. Despite the lack of evidence and reliance on hearsay, Vermillion County Jail has unjustly detained her.

Six years ago, Tatiana was in a relationship where a tragic accident occurred. A heavy, improperly placed old-school TV fell and injured a child due to the negligence of the mother, who failed to seek proper medical attention. This same mother, with a history of child neglect reports, has falsely accused Tatiana out of spite and made misleading statements to Danville Correctional, VERMILLION County detectives claiming fear for her life.

Tatiana is a loving mother with her own 17-year-old child and four stepchildren who adore her. Each of these children has a unique and cherished bond with Tatiana:

1. Exayveon - A 17-year-old teenager who enjoys playing basketball with Tatiana, cherishing the time they spend shooting hoops and receiving advice on girls. Tatiana took him in as her own and has been taking care of him since he was 5 months old. 
   - Exayveon: "Tatiana did everything for me and I miss her." She helped me with school supplies, shoes, and clothes, now what am I going to do?" says Exayveon, crying out of frustration.

2. Nubia- She cracks jokes with Tati all the time on the phone.

3. Legend- A young artist whose creativity is nurtured by Tatiana, who always encourages him to express himself and gives him advice on girls.
   - Legend: "This is the first time tati didn’t see me off to school and now I’m going high school, and Tatiana not being able to see it breaks my heart. I'm 14 years old and I miss Tati."

4. Bella- The youngest, who enjoys baking cookies with Tatiana, creating sweet memories that fill their home with laughter and love.

Tatiana has also been a dedicated caregiver, taking care of a 61-year-old Caucasian man in the early stages of dementia. This man greatly misses Tatiana and often asks for her, as she was his everyday companion. For the past six months, Tatiana has not been able to visit her children or Dale, whom she brought home because he was homeless.

Keywaun, who has been adopted into our family at 20 years old due to homelessness and neglect, says he loves Tatiana for always keeping him on his toes and giving advice about the ladies and how to ignore people at work when they are messing with him. He states, “Tatiana took me in when I had nowhere to go, and I thank her for that. Now that she’s gone, my godmom still allows me to stay.”

Everyone who knows Tatiana can attest to her nurturing nature and love for children. Importantly, Tatiana has no criminal history and has never been to jail or had any contact with the police beyond a traffic ticket. Since childhood, Tatiana has suffered from severe asthma, which is being exacerbated by the uncleanliness of the facility, causing her undue trauma and health complications.

Vermillion County Jail is creating unnecessary obstacles for Tatiana by not allowing her to work inside the facility due to her gender. This has kept her indoors, potentially triggering her to act out, despite them having no case against her. She is accustomed to working and is now unable to earn money to pay for her own legal expenses. Before this ordeal, Tatiana had a job, and her employees loved her for her dedication and kindness. This is the longest she has ever been away from work and her children due to these false accusations.

Furthermore, Tatiana is being denied access to her discovery documents, which is her right under Illinois law. Every detainee in Illinois is entitled to access all evidence and paperwork related to their case to prepare their defense. The denial of these documents is a violation of her rights and is keeping her unlawfully detained without evidence.

Tatiana's family supports her, but they have relocated to another state, making it difficult to handle matters from afar. Let us help bring her home where she belongs.

Additionally, Tatiana is being denied access to see the pastor and go outside, privileges she initially had upon her arrival. Danville is doing everything in their power to trigger her and set her up for in-house infractions, but Tatiana remains strong in this fight. With God's love, this ordeal will soon be over.

Despite any accusations, Tatiana is known for her heart of gold and willingness to help almost anyone in need.

Tatiana also has a special bond with small children, including her biological nephew, who is 5 years old. She adores him and always had him every other weekend. My biological nephew, who just turned 2, runs through my house screaming Tati's name. These children know a loving, nurturing, and happy Tati. She deserves to be able to be around these children who adore her. She deserves to fight this case from the outside.

P.S. I, Shanell, Tatiana’s fiancé, had just gotten proposed to and have been suffering due to these accusations. It is heartbreaking for your partner to be accused of something like this, when you are a mother of many but one thing I know is her heart and love for many children and people, and I refuse to let her drown in false accusations and turmoil from a scarred ex.

We come before you today with hearts full of hope and faith. We lift up Tatiana to you, knowing that you are the Great Healer and Comforter. We ask that you surround her with your love and peace, giving her strength and courage in her journey. May she feel your presence in every moment and trust in your perfect plan for her life. Guide the hands of those who care for her and grant them wisdom and compassion.
