Petition to AUSTRALIA POST for a Licensed Post Office in Manor Lakes

The issue

This Petition of residents of the Wyndham Region draws the attention of the Australian Postal Corporation to the need for a Licensed Post Office in the Manor Lakes, Victoria, 3024 area.

The petitioners are users of the Manor Lakes Central Shopping Centre in the established suburb of Manor Lakes, Victoria, 3024, a shopping centre which was extended in 2018.

Wyndham is the fastest growing region of Victoria, with Manor Lakes being the centre of retail activity in the Western part of the region.  It is surrounded by growth areas and developing estates.  There is a major road planned from Eynesbury to Ballan Road which will see the Manor Lakes Central Shopping Centre also attracting shoppers from there.

Manor Lakes already attracts a customer base from Wyndham Vale, Werribee and further afield.  Due to the constant growth in the area, the customer base will continue to increase over the coming years with the establishment of Armstrong Road through Wyndham Vale and Werribee West to the Princes Freeway.

Currently there are around 51,000 customers using Manor Lakes Central Shopping Centre, out of which 74% are families with children.

The closest Post Offices are Watton Street, Werribee (7kms) and Pacific Werribee Shopping Centre [formerly Werribee Plaza Shopping Centre] (10kms).  To utilise these services is onerous for residents in term of travel time by road and/or public transport (especially with road congestion), difficulty in parking, the walking distance from available parking and public transport stops to the post offices.  Once inside the Post Office, there are often long queue times waiting to be served at the counter.  The task of visiting a post office to collect or post an item or carry out other business facilitated by Australia Post can take more than an hour including travel time.

We ask that Australia Post consider converting Manor Lakes Community Postal Agent (CPA) into a Licenced Post Office (LPO) without further delay.

Thank you for your consideration.
