Petition to Amend By-Laws Regarding Non-Motorized Food Trailers in Toronto

Petition to Amend By-Laws Regarding Non-Motorized Food Trailers in Toronto
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are petitioning for the amendment of existing by-laws in Ontario regarding non-motorized food trailers, such as coffee trailers, that operate within the city of Toronto.
____
My name is Anastasiia, I am the owner of a unique coffee trailer, I provide a distinctive experience to residents and visitors. While my trailer is classified as a non-motorized vehicle, I operate it in a mobile manner, moving it regularly with my vehicle. However, current regulations do not recognize this form of mobility, leaving me without the rights and privileges afforded to traditional food trucks. This has resulted in numerous parking tickets while I strive to operate my business legally.
The existing by-laws fail to adequately address non-motorized food trailers, putting businesses like mine at a significant disadvantage. The lack of clear regulations for our unique operational model not only complicates our ability to serve the community but also limits the potential benefits these businesses can bring to the local economy.
We urge city officials and lawmakers to consider the following amendments:
- Recognition of Non-Motorized Food Trailers:** Establish clear definitions and regulations that recognize non-motorized food trailers as mobile vendors, similar to food trucks, allowing us to operate legally.
- Designated Parking Areas: Permit non-motorized food trailers to utilize designated GreenP parking spaces, ensuring fair access to public areas where we can serve our customers.
By updating the by-law to include provisions for non-motorized food trailers, Toronto can embrace innovation in the food service industry and support small businesses that contribute to the vibrant character of our neighborhoods. These changes will foster a more inclusive environment for all entrepreneurs.
We appreciate your attention to this important matter and look forward to your support in creating a more equitable landscape for businesses like mine.
