Animal dissection as a way of learning in education should be banned at schools as it promotes harm and against to animal rights. Schools should implement making use of computer simulation as an alternative tool on the subject matter for 21st century learners.

Animal dissection includes cutting of the body into pieces which has been a part of medical practice in a science and biology classes for students visualize the actual anatomy and other biological components of an animal. It is done by thousands of students in their middle school, high school until their collegiate level.  Dissection being considered as a standard practice in the field of medicine is a controversy today. Records every year show that an estimation of millions of different animal species is taken from their ecological habitat for classroom dissection and some are killed after being used. Thus, this gives rise to a serious worldwide declination in many animal populations. With this being said, the issue of educational dissection has become a national concern. Many organization that protects animal rights have stood for this matter and had spoken for the voice of the animals protecting them from different humane activities such as the manifestation of animal dissection in schools across the world.

We must ban the animal dissection in all schools provided the reasons why we are affirming to end this inhumane activity. First, it promotes animal cruelty. Animals are almost like humans being able to feel emotions on their own. Animal dissection contributes to majority towards animal cruelty when each student performs cutting of the body of live animals just to study their anatomical structure. This stresses the animal being under this humane activity. Second, we must protect animals like our own because they give assistance to the ecosystem.  They live to balance the natural life we have. Millions of animals are collected for further use in school dissection which resulted to decreasing of the population of several animal species. Lastly, making use of alternative tools such as technology-based tools as a substitute for real animal dissection. Studies have shown that non-animal alternatives are more economical because they can be used repeatedly and no more payment for the supplies. Also alternatives have lead performance of students as well as practicing the actual dissection. This have set the technology as a modern tool in resolving the negative impact of animal dissection.

Animal dissection has numerous negative impacts including in the ecosystem due to increasingly declination of animals caused by its collection that will be further used for school dissection, students who do not support this activity, and to the animals itself being under a tension of experiment. Although it offers students and educators benefits, this practice should be banned in schools for it continuously contributes to consequences concerning animal rights. One way to resolve this issue is to end animal dissection specifically to middle school and high school levels because it teaches students an early age of harming animals.  As a replacement to actual hands-on dissection on animals, virtual and other computer-based simulation tools should be utilized more in today’s modern world which set efficient learning for students instead of hurting a real animal.
