Petition to Address the Unfair Treatment of Ms. Thae Su Nyein at Miss Grand Myanmar 2024

Petition to Address the Unfair Treatment of Ms. Thae Su Nyein at Miss Grand Myanmar 2024
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are supporters of Ms. Thae Su Nyein, the 2nd Runner-Up of Miss Grand Myanmar 2024, and concerned citizens who demand accountability and fairness in international beauty pageants. Ms. Thae Su Nyein decided to return her crown prior to the official announcement by Miss Grand International (MGI) revoking her title, a move that signifies her dignity and integrity.
However, our concerns extend beyond the pageant results. We are deeply troubled by the actions and statements of Mr. Na Wat, an official associated with MGI, who has publicly slandered Myanmar and its people. Such behaviour is unacceptable and tarnishes the spirit of global unity and cultural respect that MGI claims to uphold.
We urge immediate action to address the following issues:
1. Illegal Operations: It has come to our attention that MGI staff have been handling tourism visas in Thailand in ways that may violate Thai law.
2. Negligence in Health and Safety: During the Miss Grand 2024 event, Miss Ukraine fainted and was not promptly attended to with medical care, which compromised her health and safety.
3. Defamation of National Figures: Mr. Na Wat has publicly insulted Myanmar's national Director, an act of disrespect that cannot be tolerated on an international stage.
4. Unfair Accusations: Accusing Ms. Thae Su Nyein of inappropriate behavior for showing emotion on stage is unjust and overlooks the emotional pressures faced by participants in such competitions.
5. Legal Actions: Myanmar intends to pursue legal action against MGI for defamation.
We demand that MGI takes responsibility for these issues and that an official apology is issued to Ms. Thae Su Nyein, the people of Myanmar, and all affected parties. Furthermore, we request a review of the pageant's policies and personnel to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
Sign this petition to stand with Ms. Thae Su Nyein and demand justice and respect for all participants in international cultural events.
