Petition to Address the Mailbox Posts in Our Community

The Issue

To the Round Hill HOA,

We, the undersigned, are writing to bring attention to a significant issue concerning the mailbox posts in our community. The original posts, as provided by the recommended vendor, are not made from pressure-treated wood, leading to premature rotting and an unsightly appearance that detracts from the overall aesthetic of our neighborhood.

Many residents, including those who have signed this petition, have taken it upon themselves to replace their rotting posts with more durable alternatives. However, these efforts have sometimes resulted in citations.

This situation is unacceptable. It is unreasonable to expect residents to continually replace mailbox posts with materials that are prone to decay, and then penalize them when they seek longer-lasting solutions. We believe that the community should consider the following actions:

1. **Review and Revise Compliance Standards**: The standards should prioritize the use of durable, sustainable materials.

2. **Allow for Alternative Solutions**: Residents who choose to replace their mailbox posts with more durable materials should be supported, provided the aesthetic is maintained.

We urge the community association to address this issue promptly, ensuring that the guidelines are practical, fair, and conducive to maintaining the neighborhood’s appearance over the long term.

Thank you for considering our petition.

Sincerely,
Wendy and Rob Garcia
