Petition to Address the Dangerous Scattering of Raw Meat in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Pa

The Issue

Urgent Action Required to Prevent the Scattering of Raw Meat in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park

We, the undersigned residents, dog owners, parents, and concerned citizens of London, urgently bring to your attention the alarming issue of raw meat being deliberately scattered in Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. Specifically, this has been observed in the area behind the Italian Gardens, at the border between these two historic parks.

This reckless act poses significant risks to public health and safety, affecting:

Dogs and Pets: Many of us frequent these parks with our beloved Dogs, and the presence of raw meat poses an immediate high risk of poisoning, bacterial infections, and other severe health complications.
Children: Young children playing in the park could come into contact with contaminated meat, increasing their exposure to harmful bacteria and potential toxins.
Wildlife: The parks are home to various species of birds, squirrels, and other wildlife that could ingest the meat, leading to fatal consequences and disrupting the natural ecosystem.
Public Health: As temperatures rise, decomposing raw meat becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and pests, creating an unsanitary environment for all park visitors.

Our Requests
We respectfully urge the authorities to take the following actions:

Immediate Investigation and Cleanup: Deploy park police  to monitor and remove any raw meat found in the affected areas and any other relevant authorities once parks police is removed.
Strict Prohibition and Sanctions: If not already in place, introduce clear regulations that explicitly prohibit the dumping of raw meat in the park.
Enforce a Significant Fine: We propose a fine of no less than £500 for any individual caught engaging in this dangerous act, serving as both a deterrent and a means of enforcement. Reinforcing the fact that feeding the wildlife is already prohibited in the Royal Parks.
Take Serious Action on Reporting Mechanisms:Take action when people report these incidents  and encourage the public to report suspicious activities through a dedicated hotline or online reporting system.
Public Awareness Campaign: Install clear signage and engage in community outreach to educate visitors on the dangers of this practice.
Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park are cherished green spaces enjoyed by thousands of us daily and seen by many of us as an extension of our home. It is our collective

responsibility to ensure these parks remain safe for all visitors and residents, both human and animal. We call upon the authorities to act swiftly in response to previous tragic incidents and to avoid future ones.

By signing this petition, we stand together pledging immediate action to protect our community, children,  dogs, and local wildlife from this growing hazard.

Sincerely,

The Concerned Residents, Dog Owners, and wildlife advocates of Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park
