Petition to Add More Pickleball Courts at Las Flores Community Center

The Issue

We, the undersigned Napa residents and Napa Valley Pickleball community, respectfully request the addition of more Pickleball Courts at Las Flores Community Center. Pickleball has rapidly grown in popularity in our area, and the current facilities are no longer sufficient to meet the community’s demand.

Currently, Las Flores Park has only four Pickleball courts. Every morning, 16-20 players—sometimes more—are left waiting to play due to a lack of facilities. This not only limits playtime but also discourages newcomers, tourists and seniors. It reduces the overall enjoyment of this fantastic sport. Pickleball fosters physical fitness, social interaction, and community spirit, making it an invaluable asset to our neighborhood.

We believe that expanding the number of Pickleball courts at Las Flores will:

Enhance community engagement by accommodating more players of all ages and skill levels.

Promote healthy living by providing accessible recreational opportunities for Senior residents.

Ease congestion and improve the overall playing experience for tourists. We urge you to prioritize this project and explore options for repurposing underutilized areas of the park to build new courts.

At the very least, and while a more permanent solution can be identified, please consider allowing our community members the use of the current tennis court which is empty most of the time. By adding Pickleball court lines, when the tennis court is not in use, Pickleball overflow could play there. As we have in the past, we are happy to work with local officials to help make this project a reality.

Thank you for your consideration for our requests to improve our community’s recreational facilities.
Sincerely,
Napa Pickleball Steering Committee
and on Behalf of the Las Flores Pickleball Community
