On September 1, 2025, Texas House Bill 1481 was passed, banning phones in schools throughout the state of Texas. This petition is here to change that! Signing this petition would mean that you support adding a few exceptions to the bill. These exceptions include phones being allowed during passing periods, during school activities before and after school, when students are waiting for school to start, during lunch, and if a school district specifically makes their own rules and exceptions . This topic is important and worth researching because if many people hear about it it could influence a rule change in the state of Texas that includes the exceptions I previously mentioned.

     Some reasons why these exceptions should take place are that cell-phones could increase morale because students can bond over mobile games on their phones, it would make things a lot easier for students to share phone numbers because they could have their phones with them, another reason for these exceptions to take is because they are just exceptions, not a full-on un-ban of phones and other personal devices, my last reason is that rule changes like this should be done by  the district, not by the Texas Education Agency.
