Our petition continues to grow, thanks to your support. We are now very close to having 5,000 supporters.
Earlier today, we carried the news that in the USA the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had finally updated their information on ME/CFS and withdrawn the previous recommendation for CBT and GET, as well as improving their diagnostic guideline:

In other news, following confirmation yesterday that NICE were proposing no action with regards the current CFS/ME guideline, the Countess of Mar sought the identity of those experts who produced the consultation document by asking the question of the Department of Health:
"...who were the experts the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence consulted in their recent review of Clinical Guideline CG53 for chronic fatigue syndrome and myalgic encephalomyelitis: diagnosis and management."
Today, the Forward ME Group, chaired by Lady Mar has met at the House of Lords. Dr Charles Shepherd, Hon. Medical Adviser to the ME Association, was in attendance along with representatives from other UK ME/CFS charities.
"The main item on our agenda was a presentation and discussion with Dr Diane O'Leary, from the Kennedy Institute of Ethics, Georgetown University, Washington DC."
"We also discussed the NICE guideline review, the future of the APPG on ME at Westminster, and follow up to our recent meetings with the Royal College of General Practitioners and Mrs Isabelle Trowler, Chief Social Worker for Children and Families in England."

We will bring you a further update when Dr Shepherd has returned to the office, and will of course let you know our response to the NICE consultation, as soon as trustees and staff have made it ready for publication.
In the meantime, please continue to share the petition. It is important that we let NICE know why we think it is wrong that a guideline which is 10 years out of date should remain in place and be used to shape future policy in primary and secondary NHS care.
