Samaritan Behavioral Center is known to emotionally abuse patients who are receiving mental health treatment, manipulative psychiatrists who milk the insurance money to make the patients stay longer than they have to, and sexual assaults from medical technicians who are supposedly there to work with people with mental illnesses.

As someone who went to Samaritan Behavioral back in 2015, I have now been diagnosed with medical PTSD due to being so deathly afraid of being sent back here. It is not a place of healing, it is a place of torment, abuse, and neglect. Psychiatrists not only will milk the insurance for you to stay longer but they will put you on unnecessary medications and diagnose you incorrectly. Most patients that have stayed at Samaritan Behavioral have mentioned that they have to stay more than 10 days even if it's voluntary treatment, in the state of Michigan voluntary check in program (voluntary hold) is only 72 hours which equals 3 days. Not 10 days! Involuntary treatment can be lengthy, not voluntary. Psychiatrists at SBC have overprescribed many unnecessary doses of antipsychotics such as: Haldol, Thorazine, and other high doses of medications. 

 

The living situation at SBC is something you would never want your own pets to go through! The beds are unsafe, not good for people who have disabilities, and they give you one pillow which is stuffed with newspaper, the bathroom is a safety hazard (black mold & rust in the showers) and men and women share the same floor. Meaning: that women are housed literally across from the men, can you imagine fearing for your life thinking about being assaulted because of men and women being placed on the same floor. There's no wing for men, it's the same floor and hallway as the women. The bedrooms are also a safety hazard and absolutely no windows! 

 

Medical technicians, receptionists, and other medical staff have known to record patients outbursts/ meltdowns on their smartphone, when complaining to the front desk about possible HIPAA violation, medical staff will gaslight patients.

 

Please read the Google reviews on SBC, again there is absolutely no therapeutic treatment here but more damaging mental health issues. This place needs to get shut down, especially all the allegations on the website that I linked in the petition. Several violations that were recorded! Medical staff have also known to intentionally set off patients with severe mental health issues. Medical staff has also triggered fights with patients and throw them on the ground and give them a intramuscle injection such as Haldol. AKA "booty juice"

Mental health hospitals need to be reformed, having mental health issues does not make you a criminal! Treating people with mental illnesses like a criminal is not only dehumanizing but absolutely immoral! The stigma needs to stop and mental hospitals shouldn't be able to get away with stuff like this! Especially sexual assault and several violations online! It is easy to access hospital violations online, so please please share this petition, and if you were a survivor of SBC, I am so sorry that you had a go through that. No one should ever feel like getting help is criminalizing. 

 

There is no type of therapeutic treatment and no group therapy. You are lucky if you have one group therapy a day or once a week. They do not have clocks on the wall, they have no TV, no books, and absolutely no music. There is nothing therapeutic about this place, in fact more people have left depressed and have tried to take their life because of how horrific this establishment is.

If you are a survivor of SBC, please sign this petition and get this place shut down! We also need to imprison psychiatrists who have purposely milked Medicare and Medicaid, along with prescribing unholy  amount of antipsychotic doses and purposely misdiagnosing patience with severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, psychosis NOS, BPD, and antisocial personality disorder when they just have panic disorder or depression. Most of the people that I met on the floor were there for suicidal thoughts, depression, and PTSD.

This hospital has done more harm than good to mental health patients. Medical PTSD is a real thing, please research it!
