Petition: Stop New Pipeline Expansion Through Indigenous Lands in Canada

The Issue

Protect Our Lands, Waters, and Peoples — Stop Pipeline Expansion on Indigenous Territory

Petition Statement:

We, the undersigned, call on the Government of Canada, the Province of British Columbia, and all corporate partners involved in fossil-fuel expansion to immediately halt the construction, approval, and expansion of gas pipelines that cross Indigenous lands without full, free, prior, and informed consent.

For generations, Indigenous Peoples have protected these lands, waters, and ecosystems. Our Nations have the right — recognized in Canadian law and international law — to say no to industrial projects that threaten our territories, our culture, and our future.

Yet pipelines continue to be pushed through our unceded homelands, often approved without the agreement of hereditary leaders, Elders, land defenders, and community members. This violates:

UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples)
Section 35 of the Canadian Constitution
The basic human right to protect our land, water, and culture

The impacts are severe and long-lasting:

Increased risk of spills and contamination
Destruction of habitat and water sources
Accelerated climate change
Criminalization and violent removal of Indigenous land defenders
Deep divisions created inside our communities
Disruption of ancestral governance and inherent rights

We refuse to allow pipelines to be forced through our territories in the name of profit, especially when Canada claims to support climate action and reconciliation. True reconciliation means listening to Indigenous communities — not pushing industrial projects through our homelands without real consent.

We demand:

A full stop to any new pipeline construction or expansion on Indigenous territory.
A federal moratorium on fossil-fuel mega-projects through unceded lands.
Recognition and enforcement of Indigenous governance and hereditary leadership.
Investment in clean energy, community sovereignty, and sustainable development led by Indigenous Peoples.
An end to criminalization, raids, and police actions against peaceful Indigenous land defenders.
Full transparency from government and corporations regarding environmental risk and consultation processes.

We stand united — Indigenous and non-Indigenous — to protect our lands for future generations.

Pipelines are not reconciliation.

Pipelines are not sustainable.

Pipelines are not consent.

We sign this petition with the shared belief that our land, water, and People deserve protection, respect, and a future free of forced fossil-fuel development.
