Petition Requesting a Pastoral Visit from Pope Leo XIV to Bless the United States

The Issue

Your Holiness Pope Leo XIV,

We, the undersigned faithful of the Catholic Church in the United States and beyond, address you with profound respect, filial devotion, and humble supplication.

As the first pontiff born upon American soil, you carry a unique bond with our land and its people. Your election as the 267th Successor of Peter has brought hope to many who see in your ministry a continuation of the Church’s mission to bring Christ’s peace to a wounded world. We are deeply grateful for your leadership and for the paternal care you extend to all nations.

In recent years, our beloved United States has experienced a troubling descent into deepening violence, bitter discord, social fragmentation, and moral disorder. Families are divided, communities are torn by strife, public discourse is poisoned by hatred, and many souls suffer in despair amid injustice, unrest, and the erosion of charity and truth. These afflictions are not merely political or social; they are spiritual wounds that cry out for divine mercy and healing.

We firmly believe, in accordance with the teachings of Holy Scripture and the constant tradition of the Church, in the extraordinary efficacy of the Vicar of Christ’s blessing. When pronounced with apostolic authority, such a blessing invokes the infinite merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ, calls down the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and serves as a powerful sacramental means of grace for reconciliation, conversion, and peace. History bears witness to the transformative power of papal blessings bestowed upon nations in times of crisis—from the restoration of order in troubled eras to the strengthening of faith amid turmoil.

Therefore, with hearts full of faith and confidence in your pastoral solicitude, we earnestly implore Your Holiness to consider making a special journey to the United States at the earliest feasible time. We respectfully request that, during such a visit, you publicly bless our nation in a solemn and visible manner—perhaps at a national shrine, in the nation’s capital, or in a gathering of the faithful. May this blessing be offered for the healing of divisions, the cessation of violence, the renewal of charity, the protection of the vulnerable, and the restoration of peace and unity under God.

We make this plea not out of presumption, but out of humble trust in the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church and Patroness of the Americas under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We entrust this petition to her Immaculate Heart, knowing that she who stood at the foot of the Cross will intercede for her suffering children.

Your Holiness, as our Holy Father and as a son of this land, we place our hope in your fatherly heart. We pledge our prayers for your intentions and for the success of your pontificate, and we remain ever obedient to your guidance.

With all due reverence and affectionate devotion,
