Petition Requesting a Pastoral Visit from Pope Leo XIV to Bless the United States

The Issue

Your Holiness Pope Leo XIV,

Most Holy Father,

We, the faithful of the United States of America, humbly and earnestly beseech Your Holiness to visit our native land at the earliest possible time, that you might impart your apostolic blessing upon her and, through the solemn power of the Church’s ministry, exorcise her from the pervasive grip of sin that now chokes her from top to bottom.

Just as Saint John Paul II, of blessed memory, came to his native Poland in 1979 and, by his presence and prayer, kindled the light of hope that ultimately dispelled the darkness of oppression, so we beg you to come to these United States. Our land, once so richly blessed, today groans under a mounting burden of moral disorder. Public and private conduct alike reveal a deepening spiritual malaise: the ongoing attempts to desanctify human life; the normalization of vice in entertainment and education; the erosion of the family; the spread of despair and division; the exaltation of material excess; the pervasiveness of violence in both word and deed; and a growing cultural hostility to the very idea of objective truth, transcendent good, and true peace. These trends have left countless souls adrift, communities fractured, and our common life increasingly marked by cynicism, anger, and spiritual emptiness.

In this hour of need, we turn to the Successor of Peter as the visible sign of unity and the servant of the servants of God. Your presence among us, Holy Father, would be an act of pastoral charity and a powerful witness to the mercy and justice of Christ. We implore you to walk our soil, to pray with us, to bless our parishes and families, and, where the Church judges it fitting, to confront the forces of evil that oppress this nation, just as your predecessors have done for peoples in peril throughout history.

It is our humble and fervent prayer that, through your paternal visit, the United States may reemerge, in truth and in fact, as one Nation under God—indivisible, with liberty and justice for all—just as our Pledge of Allegiance so solemnly declares.

With profound respect and filial devotion, we remain,
