Petition in Support of Continuing the Self-Defense Classes for the Community Youth at MAC

Petition in Support of Continuing the Self-Defense Classes for the Community Youth at MAC
The Issue
It is extremely concerning that MAC's Edmonton chapter, which maintains and operates the CRA registered Rahma Mosque has abruptly asked its in-house martial arts club to relocate without any community consultation and with utter disregard to the youth centered activities run by the Shinobu academy at MAC for the past years.
Dr Anas Abdullah - a world renowed champion, coach and referee has been serving our Edmonton muslim community from the Rahma mosque for the last 3 years and has produced 20+ black belts, many provincial champions and mentored youth to be the future leaders of our community.
Its saddening to see MAC administration disband this youth program abruptly and direct it to relocate with out any proper discourse to alternative options within its centre, which mashallah is vast and with some creative and collaborative thinking can easily be worked out.
This petition is to bring to light the plight of MAC's Rahma mosque operations and disconnect of its local management with the community and its needs. This abrupt and sudden decision of MAC Edmonton chapter to disband the martial arts/self defence program is going to affect many children and their families. It will also take away the comfort and convenience from our sisters who are benefit from this services for the reason of it being held in the premises of the masjid.
In light of the above, we the concerned parents and community members, sincerely ask MAC's headquarters in ON to take immediate action and reinstate the self-defense/martial arts activities for our boys and girls and offer its full cooperation for the mutual benefit of our Edmonton Muslim community.
