Petition for Youth Crisis Response Reform in San Bernardino County

Petition for Youth Crisis Response Reform in San Bernardino County
The Issue
We, the undersigned parents, caregivers, and residents of San Bernardino County, are requesting immediate review and reform of current youth mental health crisis response protocols.
Families repeatedly report that when minors engage in violent or dangerous behavior within the home, emergency responses rely solely on de-escalation and citation, leaving children returned to unsafe environments without stabilization or follow-up.
This gap leaves parents without lawful pathways to protect their households and places minors, families, and first responders at continued risk.
We respectfully request that San Bernardino County establish clear escalation protocols following repeated youth crisis calls and advocate for state-level reforms that allow earlier, parent-initiated mental health intervention.
Our request is focused on prevention, safety, and access to appropriate care—not punishment.
