Petition for Urgent Road Repairs in Walvis Bay

Subject: Urgent Need for Proper Road Repairs in Walvis Bay

We, the concerned residents, businesses, and road users of Walvis Bay, hereby submit this petition to demand immediate and proper road repairs in our town.

Concerns:
 1. Severely Damaged Roads 
Many roads in Walvis Bay are in extremely poor condition, filled with potholes that make driving dangerous and damage vehicles.
 2. Substandard Repairs 
The use of sand to fill potholes is an ineffective and short-term solution that worsens the problem rather than fixing it.
 3. Safety Hazard 
These poor road conditions increase the risk of accidents, putting drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists in danger.
 4. Economic Impact 
As the heart of Namibia and a major trade and logistics hub, Walvis Bay deserves well-maintained infrastructure to support businesses, transportation, and tourism.
 5. Lack of Accountability 
Despite being a key contributor to Namibia’s economy, Walvis Bay continues to suffer from poor road maintenance, and there is no clear explanation for the neglect.

Our Demands:
1. Immediate and Proper Road Repairs 
We call for urgent action to properly repair potholes using durable materials, not sand.

2. Long-Term Road Maintenance Plan 
The municipality and roads authority must provide a sustainable plan for maintaining and upgrading the town’s roads.
 3. Transparency & Accountability 
We demand a clear explanation of why the roads have been neglected and how road maintenance funds are being allocated.

We urge the authorities to prioritize road infrastructure in Walvis Bay and take immediate action to address these concerns. A well-maintained road network is essential for safety, economic growth, and the overall well-being of our town.
