To the Board of Directors at OpenAI,

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our deep concern over the recent developments within OpenAI, specifically the dismissal of Sam Altman and the subsequent resignation of Greg Brockman. We believe these actions have been carried out in a non-transparent manner, which is not only concerning but also has set off a chain of events that is destructive to our mission itself.

Our concerns are threefold:

1. Lack of Transparency: The process leading to the termination of Sam Altman was not transparent. As stakeholders in the success of OpenAI, we find this lack of clarity and communication unacceptable.

Breach of Responsibility to OpenAI’s Mission: the board exists to ensure that we create AGI that will benefit all of humanity, yet the abrupt actions of the board today have set course to meaningfully endanger our ability to achieve that mission and thus are in violation of their fiduciary duty to the company.
   
   
3. Refusal to Engage with Employees: The board's refusal to discuss these matters with employees undermines the collaborative and open culture that is crucial for our organization's success.

Given these issues, we have serious doubts about the board's ability to act as fiduciaries of both OpenAI's mission and their responsibilities as board members.

Therefore, we demand the following:

1. Immediate Resignation of the Current Board Members: We call for the immediate resignation of all board members involved in this non-transparent decision-making process.
   
   
2. Reinstatement of Sam Altman and Greg Brockman: We demand the reinstatement of Sam Altman and Greg Brockman to their respective positions on the board, ensuring a return to a leadership that aligns with OpenAI's values and mission.
   
   
3. The Establishment of a Board with Qualified Independent Directors: Following the reinstatement of Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, we demand a clear and transparent process to appoint a new board that will be best fit to serve the mission of OpenAI. 

We request a prompt response to this petition and hope for a positive step towards a more transparent, collaborative, and effective governance at OpenAI.
