Petition for the Removal of Goldie Ghamari as MPP of the Carleton Riding

Petition for the Removal of Goldie Ghamari as MPP of the Carleton Riding
The Issue
To: Premier Doug Ford and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario
We, the undersigned citizens of Canada, hereby express our deep and urgent concern regarding the continued tenure of Goldie Ghamari as a Member of the Provincial Parliament (MPP) representing the riding of Carleton, Ontario.
Ms. Goldie Ghamari’s language, particularly on social media, has been deeply troubling. In multiple posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ms. Ghamari has mischaracterized the peaceful assemblies of diverse communities across Toronto concerned for the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza as “Hate (rallies) glorifying Genocide”.
She has also shared a photo of citizens attending one of these peaceful assemblies and referred to them as “Hamas sympathizer”, accusing them of “Endorsing the brutal murder of Mahsa Amini, Armita Garavand and others” followed by her statement “Shame on you. You disgust me. You are a disgrace to Canada”.
In making such statements, Ms. Ghamari has contributed towards:
1. Creating an Unsafe Environment for Arab, Muslim, Palestinian and Jewish community members: By mischaracterizing peaceful assemblies of diverse communities across Ontario as ‘hate rallies glorifying genocide’, Ms. Ghamari is contributing to a hateful rhetoric of disinformation that endangers members of these communities.
2. Failure to Encourage Open Dialogue and Inclusivity: A Member of Parliament should be a beacon of inclusivity and open dialogue. We feel that Ms. Ghamari has failed to create an environment in which diverse perspectives are valued and respected. This failure impedes the development of a governing system that should be welcoming and inclusive of all.
3. Lack of Empathy and Support for the Palestinian community: We are deeply concerned that Ms. Goldie Ghamari has not exhibited any sympathy or expressed support for members of the Palestinian community, nor has she acknowledged the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. It is essential that all citizens, regardless of their background, receive the support and understanding they deserve.
In addition to her recent posts, Ms. Ghamari has maintained a history of openly expressing outrageous Islamophobic views on her public social media platforms.
As residents of Ontario, we believe that it is crucial for our elected representatives to uphold the principles of equality, respect, and tolerance. The Islamophobic posts made by MPP Goldie Ghamari not only undermine these fundamental values but also pose a significant threat to the social cohesion and safety of our province's Muslim community. We cannot tolerate such behaviour from those in positions of power and influence.
We request that you take immediate action to address this issue.
We, the undersigned citizens of Ontario, firmly believe that in order to preserve the integrity and reputation of our government, MPP Goldie Ghamari should be removed from her position as a member of the Provincial Parliament. Her actions have demonstrated a clear lack of judgement and have caused harm to a marginalised community, which is unacceptable for a public servant.
Furthemore, Ms. Goldie Ghamari’s actions and rhetoric are in direct disregard and non-compliance of the Ontario Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiative, which aims to address systemic barriers and build diverse and inclusive workplaces with equitable outcomes for all. Her approach does not align with the principles of the DEI initiative, and this is deeply concerning.
We urge you to take this matter seriously, as it directly impacts the trust that the people of Ontario have in their government. We believe that the removal of MPP Goldie Ghamari is necessary to maintain the principles of justice and equality that are essential to our democratic society.
Thank you for your attention to this crucial matter.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizens of Canada
