This petition is to rezone the current school district that is currently Pellston Public Schools to Mackinaw City Public Schools. All of Wawatam township is included in the Mackinaw City Public School district with the exception of the Cecil Bay area.

• The rezoning change would include Straits View Dr., Pointe Dr., Cecil Bay Rd. up to Oliver Rd., and Oliver Rd..
• Mackinaw City Public Schools are approximately 6 miles from Straits View Dr., while Pellston Public Schools are approximately 18 miles away.
• Mackinaw City Public Schools have a smaller mill rate tax than what your currently paying for Pellston Public schools.
• Pellston Public schools have a current tax rate of 5.7156 and Mackinaw City Public schools have a current tax rate of 2.4191 which is a difference of 3.2966.
• Your yearly property taxes would be less money per year.
• If rezoning passes, your new school tax for year 2025 would be 3.2966 vs. 5.7156 per $1,000.00 of taxable value.
