The consensus continues to build: Logansport residents want a new mayor, or they at least want the mayor they have to step down.

Wednesday, the number of petitioners demanding Chris Martin's resignation surpassed the number of voters who supported him in the 2023 general election -- 972. The number of petitioners demanding his resignation is growing and is closing in on 1,000.

Logansport is within a leadership vacuum. The people leading the city are city council members, the utilities officials and the city attorney. Martin has lost his clerk-treasurer, his police chief and his fire chief since being sworn in a second time. Meanwhile, the community continues to be ranked among the highest in the state in unemployment with yet another factory -- Carter Fuel Systems -- set to close next month. The response from the City Building? Crickets chirping.

Please join conscientious people from both parties and independents as they seek a new path forward for our community -- one that creates a more inviting, thriving community that is one our children and grandchildren want to call home.
