As the temperature dips to the coldest days of 2026, Logansport residents are turning up the heat on their Mayor.
More than 600 residents have now signed a petition calling for Chris Martin to resign.
Nearly six months after the controversy involving Martin and the Super 8 Motel and its outstanding bill for more than $40,000 that Martin negotiated, the city still maintains it will not release the emails Martin made in communication with team and league officials, citing "pending litigation," yet there is no litigation filed against Martin or the city related to that unpaid bill
Meanwhile, the city has turned to County Commissioner Mike Stadjuhar to attempt to clean up the finances of the city in the wake of the clerk-treasurer's resignation midway through his four-year term. Tyler Pearson cited "personal reasons" for his resignation. Meanwhile, the city has not released requested emails between the city, the State Board of Accounts and the Indiana Department of Local Government. Those might shed some light on Pearson's departure and how the state views Martin's conduct. Last year, court hearings were scheduled to determine possible garnishments for outstanding bills.
Meanwhile, progress in Logansport comes from other sectors of the community -- the community foundation and the Chamber of Commerce. But not the mayor's office. That's why Logansport residents are demanding the Martin put the city's best interests ahead of his own by resigning his position. His frequent absences, his legal issues and his ongoing stonewalling of legal requests for his emails are continuing with no end in sight.
Please join us in sending a resounding message that Logansport needs a change. Thank you for caring for our community's future.
