The number of Logansport residents and voters signing a petition demanding that Mayor Chris Martin resign has now surpassed 39 dozen and is closing in on the 500-signature mark by the end of 2025.

This, as the deadline for Martin to respond to the Indiana Public Access Counselor's request for release of emails detailing his involvement in the Ironhorse basketball controversy passed last week. Still, no emails released explaining what he promised, negotiated or agreed to in lodging the team at the Super 8 Motel. The motel's attorney earlier this year said Martin is responsible for more than $40,000 in lost revenue. Martin also is the focus of garnishment proceedings against him in the Cass County court system.

Meanwhile, inflation rages on, and Martin and his administration have no plan to combat it, or even an acknowledgement that families, senior citizens, single parents and young couples are facing a difficult holiday season this year.

These reasons and so many more are why residents in increasing numbers are signing the petition for a more responsive city government.
