Social media has been buzzing with news that the parent company of one of Logansport's largest employers is in financial trouble.
What will that mean for workers who have supported the boilerplate plant in the Cass/Logan Industrial Park for more than 25 years? That's a question you may be asking, but it's up to the City of Logansport's leadership to provide some answers to the people who live, work and support the city: Will there be a WARN notice to employees that the plant is closing? Is it for sale? Has the city offered economic development incentives to help the plant stay open? Is there any plan to retrain employees or find them employment if they're terminated? Is the city working with the plant's union?
We're not hearing those answers from Chris Martin or his administration, and at a time when quality jobs are hard to find, it doesn't bode well for the industrial park when its anchor tenant is in trouble.
Situations like this are why we are asking you to sign this petition -- as now more than 34 dozen voters have -- demanding his resignation. Economic development -- if not job No. 1 for any mayor -- is certainly right behind public safety if it isn't.
Please sign and share this petition and let people know that you care about Logansport's future and the people who want to live and work here.
